1st
GRADE CURRICULUM |
ART
In first grade, students have the opportunity to attend
a weekly art class to begin learning the fundamental
concepts of visual art. They continue to examine the
visual, tactile, spatial, and temporal elements in the
world around them. Students will be exposed to well
known artists such as Mondrian, Degas, Van Gogh, and
Monet. They will have the opportunity to create with
paints, clay, household objects, paper, their own bodies,
and much more. The Art curriculum mirrors the requirements
as set forth by the State of California Standard. NPLA
accepts these standards as minimum competencies and
hold higher expectations for all NPLA students.
