LANGUAGE ARTS
ACSI / Abeka Books / Plato Learning, Inc.
The language arts program involves a wonderful variety
of materials highlighting literature, student created
books, famous authors, introduction to grammar and sentence
development, phonics activities, opportunities for the
emergent and fluent reader, and participation in oral
language and listening skill development. The Land of
The Letter People Program is designed to balance the
approach to literacy through themes and integration
across all content areas providing natural connections
to phonemic awareness, the alphabet principle, and reading
and writing.
My Word Book offers students the opportunity to create
their own personal collection of words important to
them through illustrations and letter/word association.
The handwriting curriculum teaches students vertical
manuscript to improve letter recognition, enhance emergent
literacy, and develop reading, writing, and spelling
skills. The language arts curriculum mirrors the requirements
as set forth by the State of California Standards department.
NPLA accepts these standards as minimum competencies
and expect our students to not only meet but exceed
the state standards across each discipline.
